PHOEBE took part in the successful SOCIAREM kick-off meeting, held on 2–3 October 2025 in Madrid, Spain. The event brought together all 15 consortium partners to officially launch this ambitious Horizon Europe project, which aims to empower citizens and communities to lead Europe’s clean energy transition.
Over two productive days at the Institute for Research in Technology of Comillas Pontifical University, partners presented their plans and coordinated the roadmap for the project’s first phase. The meeting fostered collaboration and a shared vision for accelerating renewable energy adoption across Europe.
Each Work Package leader presented their objectives and vision for the coming months, defining key project milestones for the project’s first phase. The consortium coordinated a joint roadmap and communication plan to ensure effective collaboration among partners. The meeting also allowed for interactive sessions that provided a space for participants to exchange ideas and clarify responsibilities, ensuring that all partners are fully equipped to move forward with a shared understanding of SOCIAREM’s mission.
SOCIAREM will develop digital tools and open-source models to make photovoltaic adoption easier and more inclusive, while collaborating with citizens, communities, and policymakers to overcome technical, regulatory, and social barriers.
PHOEBE contributes by leading the implementation of IoT infrastructure in the Cyprus Energy Community demonstration in collaboration with KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence of the University of Cyprus and developing the project’s energy monitoring and management platform to optimise renewable energy flows and empower local communities.
The kick-off meeting marked the beginning of 42 months of collaboration between universities, research centres, SMEs, and community organisations from nine countries. PHOEBE looks forward to advancing innovative digital solutions that make renewable energy adoption smarter, more inclusive, and more impactful.
